Hiding in Plain Sight: Discovering the Divine with Rick Stedman

Hiding in Plain Sight: Discovering the Divine with Rick Stedman

By Nancy Carmichael

What do you get when you cross a classic-rock vinyl collecting, bookaholic, pastor with  zombies, superheros, sports, the environment and existentialism?

Why, you get the book “31 Surprising Reasons to Believe in God” by Dr. Rick Stedman.  That’s what.

(Did I throw you with the zombie thing?  You’ll just have to trust me and keep reading).

They say that eternity is set in the hearts of men.  Actually, it’s God who said that, about Himself  (look it up right here:  Ecclesiastes 3:11http://bit.ly/2ulQY7Q ).  And it’s true.  There’s something deep within each of us that’s looking for something bigger than us.  So we look high, low, hither and yon.  Often we don’t even realize we’re looking, and sometimes we completely miss what’s right in front of us.

But still, we seek.  And that’s where Stedman’s book comes in.  It’s about this search for truth, and how when it comes to the really BIG ticket items (you know, things like love, beauty, suffering, the meaning of life), the Truth is often hiding in plain sight.  It’s all a matter of adjusting our vision.

And it’s a must read for anyone who has any curiosity whatsoever to pull back the veil and discover that there is so much more going on than what meets the eye in our everyday lives.

I recently had a chance to chat with Dr. Stedman about his book, and some of the surprising places God shows up in our quest.  In the spirit of full disclosure I must tell you that a quiz on rock lyrics was administered. Superheros and zombies were also discussed, yes.  And so much more. But don’t just take my word for it.  Listen for yourself:  https://fccdl.in/9NGJOZVbH
