Mega-church pastor says it’s about sending capacity not seating capacity

Successful author and mega-church pastor Rick Warren says since the day he planted Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, CA, it has always been about sending, not seating capacity.

“I said that at our 1st service of Saddleback.  Now, 37 yrs later, 29,267 members have served as missionaries to 197 nations,” Warren stated on Twitter.

This effort to support missions includes Warren hosting the annual Finishing the Task Conference, a conference with the goal of bringing the gospel to unreached people around the world.

Saddleback is one of the largest in the nation with weekly attendance estimated at over 20,000 people. The church also has 13 additional campuses including one in Hong Kong, Germany, Philippines and Argentina.

Warren’s best selling book, Purpose Driven Life, catapulted him into the national spotlight, making it one of the best selling books of all time with 30 million copies sold.
