Church In Sweden Utilizes Innovative Solution To Deliver Bibles In Iraq: Drones

Christianity Today is reporting that one Christian church in Sweden has a rather innovative way of delivering Bibles to unreached areas in Iraq: drones.

Christian Akerhielm, Missions Director for Word of Life Church (Livets Ord) in Sweden shared a picture on Instagram of a smaller version of what the drones may look like. He said the actual drones will be three meters (nearly ten feet) long. "The electronic Bibles and Christian messages...will deliver a message of peace and hope to people that only experience religious darkness and violence,” Akerhielm said, referring to areas in Iraq that are currently under Islamic control.

“The project will start in a few weeks,” according to the Christianity Today article.

"We are all about missions and reaching the corners of the world with the Gospel, but just as much about reaching the corner closest to home with that amazing and unfailing love of God,” said lead Pastor Joakim Lundqvist in a statement on the church’s website.

”Mission is not just something we do, it is something we are. The Great Commission is of highest priority, we sense its urgency and therefore reach out into many countries and cultures across the world,” Akerhielm said referring to the church’s mission work overseas.

Most of the information about this project is written in Swedish, but updates may be posted on the church's English website or on social media.
