The First Commercial Flight Between the U.S. and Cuba in More Than 50 Years Will Take Place Today
The first commercial flight from the U.S. to Cuba in more than fifty years will take place today, according to the Associated Press. JetBlue Flight 387 will depart from Fort Lauderdale, Florida at 9:45 EST and will arrive 72 minutes later in Santa Clara, Cuba.
JetBlue will also fly to the Cuban cities of Camaguey and Holguin daily, according to a statement on the airline’s website.
About 300 flights a week will operate between the U.S. and Cuba. Those flights will be chartered by a number of different airlines.
The last time a commercial flight flew to Cuba from the U.S. was during the Cuban missile crisis in October of 1962, according to the AP.
