Emirates Aircraft Involved In Accident In Dubai, Firefighter Killed
Emirates Flight EK521, which originated in Thiruvananthapuram, a city in southwestern India was involved in an “operational incident” at Dubai International Airport, according to airline officials. The Boeing 777 was carrying 282 passengers and 18 crew members, all of which were unharmed.
Emirates CEO HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum said in a press conference today “thankfully there were no fatalities among our passengers and crew.”
The aircraft experienced difficulties upon landing at about 12:45 local time on Wednesday. One firefighter was killed while responding to the incident, according to the Associated Press.
The airport was closed “for a few hours” this afternoon which caused numerous flight disruptions and cancellations.
Dubai International Airport has just recently reopened to passengers and air traffic.
