Rockets hit Sderot/IAF retaliate
(JNS.org) The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Sunday night retaliated against Hamas in a series of air strikes, targeting several terror sites in response to a rocket launched from Gaza into the southern Israeli city of Sderot Sunday afternoon.
The rocket landed between two residential homes. There were no injuries. The IDF said they are not interested in escalating the situation in Gaza and will continue to maintain stability in southern Israel.
Initially, a Salafist group, Ahfad al-Sahaba, claimed responsibility for the rocket attack. The IDF has not identified who is responsible for the firing the rocket.
Turkey’s Foreign Ministry criticized Israel for its retaliatory response saying that reconciliation between Israel and Turkey “does not mean that we will keep silent in the face of attacks against the Palestinian people," the Jerusalem Post reported.
