ISIS Likely Responsible For Istanbul Terror Attack, Turkish Officials Say
After the terror attack at the Istanbul airport yesterday, 41 people are dead and 230 are wounded, according to the Associated Press.
Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim updated the media today on what investigators believe happened just prior to the attack. “When the terrorists couldn’t pass the regular security system, when they couldn’t pass the scanners, police and security controls, they returned and took out their weapons out of their suitcases and opened fire at random at the security check,” he said. “One blew himself up outside and the other two took advantage of the panic created during the shoot out and got inside and blew themselves up.”
Turkish officials said this incident is likely another ISIS terror attack, according to the Associated Press. The attack took place during the month of Ramadan.
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan condemned the attack and said: “it is obvious that this attack does not aim to attain any results but merely aims to produce propaganda material against our country by shedding the blood of and causing pain for innocent civilians.”
