Britons Voted Today On Historic Referendum

According to a report published by the British Parliament, voters in that country were asked one question: “should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?”

Polls just closed across the country and some localized results are starting to filter in. There is no official word yet, however, on the decision. Voters battled inclement weather conditions today, including torrential downpours and flooding.

There were many issues for voters to consider, including, but not limited to trade, immigration, education and human rights.

When it comes to the issue of trade, “some argue that membership of the EU allows the UK to benefit from better trade deals than it would be able to negotiate on its own,” according to the report. “On the other hand, EU membership entails some compromises and limits the UK’s ability to prioritize its own interests.”
