Iraq To Reopen Border With Jordan
The Associated Press is reporting that Iraq will soon reopen its borders with Jordan.
"We are expecting the opening of the borders in no longer than two weeks' time," Iraqi ambassador to Jordan, Safia al-Souhail said. "It might be less, it might be a little bit more, but this is the time frame that we have been informed about."
Iraq closed the border last year to prevent ISIS from collecting “taxes they impose on cargo trucks driving through the area” according to the AP article. Now, refugees may be able to return and trade may resume. However, it is still very dangerous because there are explosives planted in the area.
