This Nation Has the Biggest Bible Needs In the World
JoshuaProject.net estimates there to be 16,560 people groups on earth 6,698 unreached people groups. This equals about 3.11 billion people out of 7.38 billion people who are unreached with the Gospel.
While the work in global missions is extensive, there is one nation that has particular needs that at least one Bible distribution group is saying are the most extensive when it comes to Bible translating. That nation is Indonesia, a nation made up of thousands of Islands and one that gained its independence from the Netherlands in the late 1940s. 80% of the 240 million plus people in the nation claim Muslim as their religion. Because of the diversity of languages and the many people groups that make up the nation, the Bible is not currently available in the diverse dialects of the nation, according to Wycliffe Bible Translators.
According to Wycliffe.net, Indonesia has over 700 different languages spoken by its 248,818,000 people. 90% of the people are literate but too many of them do not currently have the Bible available in their own dialect.
According to Wycliffe, Indonesia has more translation needs than any other country in the world? Out of 701 languages, 518 need Bible translation.
