At Least One Christian Leader Encourages Believers to "Buy Nothing" on Black Friday

Author, activist and Christian leader Shane Claiborne has taken to Twitter on BlCk Friday to encourage Christians and those within his scope of influence, some 69,000 followers to buy nothing on Black Friday.

Claiborne tweeted things like,

"Draw something. Sew something. Cook something. Sing something. Build something. Make something.

BUY NOTHING."

Claiborne it appears wants to encourage people everywhere to continue savoring the Thanksgiving spirit instead of rushing out right after giving thanks and buying more material things contradicting the very thing we just participated in, the giving of thanks and contentment,

"One day we celebrate everything we have. The next day we trample each other trying to get more.

Don't do it," Claiborne tweeted.

Other Christian authors and leaders seemed to direct Shopper's to take advantage of special book deals and gifts including Pastor Mark Batterson offering buy one get one free bundles on his new book, Chasing the Lion and popular blogger and author Ann Voskamp offering signed copies of her book today only.

Either way you look at Black Friday, it's important to give and if you can save money while doing so and giving thanks maybe it is not so bad after all.
