BREAKING: President-Elect Trump Selects Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn As Assistant To The President For National Security Affairs

President-elect Donald Trump announced today in a statement that he selected Retired Lt. General Michael Flynn to be the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs.

“I am pleased that Lieutenant General Michael Flynn will be by my side as we work to defeat radical Islamic terrorism, navigate geopolitical challenges and keep Americans safe at home and abroad,” said President-elect Trump in a statement. “General Flynn is one of the country’s foremost experts on military and intelligence matters and he will be an invaluable asset to me and my administration.”

Lt. General Flynn formerly served as the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and was a Senior Military Intelligence Officer in the Department of Defense (DOD). He brings more than three decades of military service to the White House. An extensive resume on his official website lists his areas of expertise as: Intelligence, Counterintelligence, National Security and Cyber Operations. He was also awarded four bronze star medals for his military service. In addition, he holds three master’s degrees and two honorary doctorates.

"I am deeply humbled and honored to accept the position as National Security Advisor to serve both our country and our nation's next President, Donald J. Trump,” said Lt. General Flynn in a statement.
